The Department of Adult Education, University of Ibadan, has a rich history dating back to 1949, when the Department of Extra-Mural Studies was established as a service department to support academic programmes within the University. In 1971, the Department evolved into a full academic programme with a mandate to produce highly skilled Adult Education graduates who can respond effectively to the educational and developmental needs of Nigerian society.
