Academic Programme : Department of Social Work
At present, the Department offers the professional master’s degree in social work (MSW), the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work (PGDSW) on regular basis, the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree and Sub-degree Diploma in Social Work (Dip. SW) under the Distance Learning Modes. The objectives of each of these programmes are highlighted below:
Objectives for the MSW programme
The Objectives of the MSW programme is to produce highly skilled man-power for the public and private agencies in the following areas of Social Work:
1. Health Social Work (General and Psychiatry)
2. Social Welfare (Family, Education, Youth, Juvenile and Criminal Justice).
3. Community Development
4. Industrial Social Welfare
Objective of the PGDSW programme
The objective of the PGDSW is to assist the government of the federation and other developing countries in providing adequate and well trained senior level manpower for the Social Development Services.
Objectives of the BSW Programme
The BSW programme in Social Work is designed to:-
i. Produce highly skilled manpower for professional personnel for leadership positions in the different sections of Public and Private Agencies of the country.
ii. Produce highly qualified and motivated officers requiring their skill and expertise.
iii. Expose the students to variety of social problems and to encourage them to develop spirit of understanding and control.
